John 16:13
When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority but whatever he hears he will speak and he will declare to you the things to come.

Pray that the Lord leads members of the Vanniyan people of India into the knowledge of the truth about God and his son.

Vanniyan People

by WK

(This story illustrates attitudes of this people group.)
Red flames soared higher into the day sky as the man threw sticks on the bonfire. Occasionally he would hear a loud crackle when the fire began to consume a moist piece of wood. Others stood with him. Everyone bowed to the flames and chanted, “Come, Agri, come!” These Vanniyan people thought that if they kept this up, they would gain the much-needed attention of their fire god, Agri. Yet as they walked away, some of them wondered if their rituals were doing any good.
The Vanniyans live in Tamil Nadu, a state in southern India, and speak a language related to Tamil. This people group may have migrated to India from Sri Lanka in the distant past. The Vanniyan are Hindus and worship many gods. Agri, the god of fire, is one of their favorites. There are few, if any, followers of Jesus Christ among this people group.

Ask God to raise up faithful workers to take the message of salvation to this people group. Pray that the Vanniyan people would come to see that Jesus Christ is stronger and holier than any of the Hindu gods they currently worship. Pray for the fire of true faith to burn in the hearts of the Vanniyan people.
