Psalms 18:29 NKJV
For by You I can run against a troop, by my God I can leap over a wall.

Pray for abundant energy and joy for Pathan people who accept this blessing from the Lord. Pray that their lives will be used by God to draw many other Pathans to Christ.

Pathans (aka, Pashtuns) in India

by JS

India has been attracting invaders, traders, and explorers since long before the time of Alexander the Great. There has always been a need for warriors, and the Pathans of India have traditionally answered that call. Legend says they were founded by Afghana, the grandson of King Saul. Originally, they were called Pashtuns or Pushtuns in Afghanistan or Pakistan, where their tribal ancestors lived. Their tribal culture is still strong in Indian Pathan communities where Pushtunwali (the way of the Pushtun) is ingrained in everyday life. They offer hospitality and protection to guests; a fugitive has a right to seek refuge; blood feuds or revenge is honorable. Steadfastness, righteousness, and persistence are their virtues, and the practice of protection of property and women is highly esteemed.
Pathans are one of the four largest Muslim groups in India. Since their entire way of life is opposed to change, reaching them with the gospel of Jesus Christ is a challenge. Pathans need specific prayer to reach them.

Ask God to raise up prayer teams that will break up the soil through daily intercession. Ask the Holy Spirit to soften Pathan hearts towards Christians so they will be receptive to the gospel. Ask God to raise up strong local churches among Pathan communities in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. Pray for the Holy Spirit to touch the hearts of Pathan children who are in bondage to fear.
