Psalms 145:3, NET
The Lord is great and certainly worthy of praise! No one can fathom his greatness!

Pray that like James and John, the Maravan people will comprehend the worthiness of God and his son, Jesus Christ.

Maravan People

by EC

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him. Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him. Matthew 4: 19-22, NIV.
The first disciples were men of humble origins. Without turning back, they chose to abandon the familiarity and security of their work as fishermen in pursuit of a higher calling, convinced of the worthiness of Christ.
The Maravan live in the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India. The word maravar in Tamil, the primary language of the Maravan people, translates as “warrior.” Today the majority of the Maravan people work in agriculture or as fishermen. They belong to the “most backward class” in the caste system, a term indicating a caste that are socially disadvantaged. Though 97 percent of the Maravan people are Hindu, there is a small number of Jesus followers living among them.

Pray that the Maravans become the kind of people that will do what Jesus’ disciples did. Pray that Maravan believers will be raised up as leaders embodying Christ. Pray that these believers will take up their identities as spiritual warriors, and that through their testimony, Jesus will reveal himself to them.
