Luke 23:40-42, NET
But the other criminal protested, “Don’t you fear God even when you have been sentenced to die? We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn’t done anything wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.” And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Pray that soon the Lodha people will hear about how Jesus died, and they will crave the forgiveness of sin that he offered the criminal on the cross.

Lodha People

by WK

(This story illustrates possible attitudes of this people group.)
The young Lodha man stood in the prison cell and gripped the bars that held him captive. How had he ended up like this, he wondered? His anger always seemed to get the better of him, and now he was in jail. Perhaps it was the Hindu gods his family worshiped. His family worshiped Shakti, the god of power and Chandi, the god of anger. As a boy he watched his father make daily sacrifices to these gods. The young man wondered if there was a better way. Was there a God out there who could break the power of sin and anger in his life?
The Lodhas are offshoots of the Rajput soldier caste. For centuries many Lodhas worked as farmers. During the British colonial period some Lodha people were driven from their homes by the British and turned to a life of crime in retaliation. Today the Lodha people control India’s version of the mafia. There are few, if any, followers of Christ among them.

Pray that the Lodha people group will be introduced to Jesus Christ as the one who can break the power of sin in their lives. Ask God to lead faithful workers to reach out to this people group with the message of salvation. Pray that the transforming power of the Holy Spirit will change this community in such a way that organized crime will be weakened and all of India will take notice.
