Exodus 1:17, NLT
But because the midwives feared God, they refused to obey the king’s orders. They allowed the boys to live, too.

Pray for a healthy fear of God to come over the Jofra Berbers.

Jofra Berbers

by JS

Libya is not the same country it was before the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi. Violence continues unabated in many areas, but one thing that has improved is that there is more freedom available for the Berber peoples. Gaddafi’s ideology stressed the unity of all Libyans under an Arab identity, and all efforts to express Berber culture under his rule were strictly forbidden. Berbers were unable to name their children with traditional Berber names. A sort of renaissance of their ancient culture is arising from the ashes of suppression under the former dictator’s rule.
The Jofra Berbers are another Berber group found only in Libya. They number about 26,500. They are now free to display their traditional beautiful needlework at cultural festivals. They also can speak their own dialect of Berber rather than Arabic which Gaddafi established as Libya’s official language. They are Muslim, but they are very lax in following Muslim rules and regulations.
Many of the Berber peoples were officially Christian before the advent of Islam in North Africa. At times Berbers cooperated with the Arabs, and at other times they tried to establish their autonomy. Perhaps this is the time for Berber peoples to reclaim the spirituality of their ancestors.

Pray for God to send the Jofra Berbers dreams and visions of Jesus and to prepare their hearts to hear about him. Pray, too, for God to send individuals who have a heart for the Jofra people to learn about Christ.
