Luke 12:22-23, NET
Luke 12:22-23, NET Jesus said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear. For there is more to life than food, and more to the body than clothing.”

Pray that the Gosain people will soon live lives of pure and holy faith in the Christ who makes a worry-free life possible.

Gosain People

by BO

There is peace in the present. When we truly live in each moment, awareness of God’s blessings becomes greater, but only if we know the God who blesses. We can dismiss regret and anxiety, and instead, find contentment in what is now.
The Gosain people have the potential to do this, but in God’s eyes, they have missed the mark. Instead of coming to him for their needs and living for him, they believed their offerings to Hindu gods sustain them. At one time they cut off their desire for material possessions and lived off the land. Now, they create income from what they harvest. Some have turned into merchants and industrial workers.
Intermarriage allowed them to join and blend in with other castes. Though their lives are changing in the 21st century, they continue to follow the traditional family unit of Indian culture; boys receive education and inherit property, while girls receive very little education and are minimally involved in family affairs. They are transitioning from their minimalist lifestyle to one that is more materialistic.
There are now close to 1.6 million Gosain people throughout India. Some can be found in Nepal and Bangladesh. Though they have access to the gospel, they remain unreached.

We ask for revelation of God’s provision, that the Gosain people no longer feel burdened to sacrifice offerings to false gods or find power in material possessions. May believers show them the abundant life they can have in relationship with the Lord.
