Isaiah 55:2, NKJV
Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to me and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in abundance.

Pray that the Bharbhunja people will seek and find the spiritual abundance God offers those who desire a relationship with him.

Bharbhunja People

by PD

(This story is intended to illustrate truths about this people group.)
“No Rabah, like I told you before, I have no need for your grain. Take it home and feed it to the chickens. The grain is stacked to the sky in Punjab and rotting. No one is buying.” Rehab, a Bharbhunja farmer, shook his head and walked away from the buyer. For many years Rabah’s family had always grown wheat, dried it, and sold it to local buyers. But now there was such a surplus that the wheat was rotting. Now he thought about driving a rickshaw.
Most Bharbhunja are followers of three different religions, depending on where they live. In Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Punjab they are Hindu. Those in Haryana and Chandigarh are usually Sikh. In Gujarat they are Sunni Muslims. Many Bharbhunja from each of these states have sought work in Delhi where they maintain the religion according to the area they migrated from. There are almost no followers of Christ among these people. Those who decide to follow Christ face exclusion from their families.

Pray God will provide sensitive, wise, loving ambassadors to open the eyes of the Bharbhunja to the living Lord. Pray that God will take them out of the oppression they face with each of the religions they follow. May God give them strength to lead others to the Lord and begin a disciple making movement.
