Acts 17:28b-30, NIV
As some of your own poets have said, “We are his offspring.” Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone--an image made by human design and skill. In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.

Pray that just as Paul used what the Athenians already knew, today’s missionaries will remember to start with what truths their target audiences already have.

Allah’s Korbani Plan of Salvation

by KC

Is it more persuasive to use foreign terminology, or terminology that your target audience understands? The answer seems obvious, but there are difficult gray areas.
If you are going to persuade Muslims that Jesus is essential for salvation and for an abundant life, would you dare call God the Father “Allah” as Arab Christians were doing hundreds of years before Islam dominated the Middle East? Or is it too risky given that they might only think of the god of Islam when they hear the term, Allah?
There is a man working with well-educated African Muslims who has written something called, “Allah’s Korbani Plan of Salvation,” which explains the road to salvation using verses from the Islamic Qur’an as well as the Bible. It uses the traditional Arabic words for God and for Jesus. Throughout the document, the writer commends Muslims for honoring Jesus, all the while pointing them to the cross and Christ’s resurrection victory.
Is this risky? Absolutely. Will some people misunderstand it? Yes, definitely. But unlike traditional materials that sound “Christian,” Muslims are willing to read this document, and most come away with a much better understanding of why Jesus is absolutely essential for spiritual wholeness and salvation.

Pray for Muslims in Africa to learn from the “Plan of Salvation” and understand why the death and resurrection of Jesus is essential for salvation. Pray that the Holy Spirit will touch their hearts and lead them to teach others about the only Savior.
