Daily Topic for January 18, 2011

Acts 2:39
“The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

What is the promise Peter was speaking of? Forgiveness for those who repent of their sins in the Name of Jesus Christ (see verse 38). It is encouraging that no matter how far people go in the direction of inviting God’s wrath, it’s not too late to change. Often the blessing is passed to the children through parents and other adults who know Jesus and His ways.

Pray that current efforts to reach the children and youth in Darfur will result in good fruit that will last for generations to come.

Youth Work in Sudan

by Etrisia Lillie

The role that Sudanese youth groups play in reaching out to the unevangelized tribes in their land is mainly through short term outreach programs. However, a few national youth have taken the risk of staying a long time in remote and often dangerous places and even planted churches in the tribes.

Organized sports activities held by the youth in areas near unreached people groups can play a huge role in revealing the love of God to the blinded spirits in the different parts of Sudan. These outreaches have also played a role in reviving many churches in different regions of Sudan, especially those in the northern part of the country. Through the work of the Christian youth proclaiming Jesus among the tribes in these regions, many have come to know Christ. One cannot ignore the youth if we want to reach the unreached. When you have well-trained youth, filled with the Holy Spirit, committed to Christ, with an attitude like Paul’s in Philippians 4:13 “I can do every thing through him who gives me strength,” you have one of God’s greatest jewels. In faith, you and I can say, “They can do it! They can remove the deceptive masquerade the devil has poured into the lives of the victimized unreached people groups.”

Pray that God will give the youth in all the diverse parts of Sudan holy discernment and His wisdom. Pray that they will boldly take the lead and accomplish the Lord’s will for their country.
