Revelation 1:7
Look, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of Him. So shall it be! Amen.

John begins the book of Revelation with a clear vision of Jesus Christ, the One who is coming soon. In this quotation from the prophet Daniel, John emphasizes the impact the return of Jesus Christ will have upon the peoples of the earth. He says they will mourn. Why? Because, suddenly confronted with their rejection of Him, they will become aware that they deserve the judgment to come. Scripture makes it clear, however, that some from every people will rejoice at Christ’s return. These are the ones who belong to Him, who have heard and believed the gospel and who have submitted their lives to His lordship.

Pray that the Father will bless us by His Spirit as we work to increase the number of those who will delight in Jesus’ return.

Turang People

by EJD

Than, a member of the Turung people of Assam, lay flat on his bed, his eyes fixed on the dusty blades of the fan that seemed to rotate to the beat of the stone-cutter’s chisel and hammer from the street below. The fan did not provide respite from the sultry weather or from his tormenting thoughts. Than was a student at the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmadabad. This was no stroke of fortune. His parents, who worked in rice paddy fields in Assam, made sure that their son went to school so that he might have a better life than theirs.
Never did he think that his simple life would become so troubled. A classmate had invited him to attend a group discussion at the student recreation hall and Than went. A great deal was spoken about God and Than came away from the meeting greatly convinced that Jesus Christ was God incarnate. Even as he lay on his hard steel bed he heard what his father had told him when he was getting ready to leave for the big city, “Hold onto the teachings that you received from your mother and myself, for it would be a disgrace to turn your back on the belief of your forefathers.” Than finds himself torn between what he heard as a child and what he just heard and wants to hold on to.
Pray that God would reveal Himself to Turung people in such a way that thousands will embrace the Savior.
