Psalm 25:5
Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.

Like most people in the world today, the Thori people have put their trust in someone who cannot help them. They trust in Pubuji, a Rajput saint. They need to put their trust in the One who created them and gave them life.

Pray that the Lord will send believers to tell the Thori people about the true and living God. Pray that soon the Thori will put their trust in the only One who is worthy of it.

Thori (aka, Nayak) People

by CL

Landless! That is a label that has been thrust upon the Thori people. And unfortunately, it is a fitting description of this lower caste (i.e., tribal) people. Also known as the Nayak, they work the land, but do not own it. They are truly landless.

The Thoris were once military commanders. They followed Pubuji, a famous Rajput warrior-saint. The Thori became so powerful that the ruling Rajahs defamed them, and they became marginalized. Thus, their success became their downfall. They are still paying a heavy price.

Today, these once mighty people struggle economically as day laborers. But even as they work in agriculture and industry, they continue to pass down legends about Pubuji and their past days of glory through songs and stories. The Thori people have also been called a “vagrant community.” They are viewed by other castes as wanderers who cannot be trusted.

Ask the Lord to send workers to help the Thori people take their place in His Kingdom. Pray for the Thoris to find their home and new hope in Christ. Pray for the gospel to be proclaimed to them in their heart language through stories, the JESUS Film, and through gospel recordings. Pray that they will put their trust in Jesus Christ and become a blessing to other people groups and castes.
