Ephesians 1:7-10
In him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.

Notice here that God lavishes His grace on us. Lavishes! Such a word brings to mind abundance. And it doesn’t stop there. He offers forgiveness of sin and redemption through His blood. Shouldn’t Muslim peoples like the Telis know what they are missing?

Pray that soon the Telis will be told of God’s lavish grace.

Teli People

by CL

Like the Pinjaras we prayed for yesterday, the Telis get their name from their livelihood. “Tel” means oil in Hindi. Their occupation is making “edible oil” from mustard and sesame seeds. Historically, the Telis used animals to extract oil from various seeds.
Some Telis are Hindu, while those who converted to Islam are referred to as Roshandaar. The Muslim Telis believe they are descended from the inventor of the oil press. They trace their ancestry back to Luqman, a man they claim was an apprentice to King David. According to the story, Luqman could not extract oil, so he consulted an old woman who told him to use water in the oil press. This “secret” was then handed down from generation to generation.

The main role of the Teli in society was and continues to be the provision of oil. In the Bible oil often symbolizes the Holy Spirit. Because they lack knowledge of the triune God, the Teli people cannot know the love and peace that comes from accepting Jesus as their Lord and receiving the Holy Spirit into their hearts.

Pray for this mostly Muslim people group to have the opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel. Ask the Lord to share His “secret” with them: the forgiveness and salvation available to them from His Son, Jesus Christ.
