Grace means empowerment. God is the One who empowers all of us to do what He wants us to do. Without His grace/empowerment, we can do nothing.
Pray that God will give His grace to the workers in the Mekong River regions so that they will be empowered to do His will and extend His glorious Kingdom.
“Chiang Rai is due to become a major trading center as the Mekong River Basin becomes a major corridor for trade between Indochina and China. Sowing the truth generously in this province (of northern Thailand), especially among the university and secondary school students will provide a core of educated, spiritually mature young people who will naturally seek their futures along the upper reaches of the Mekong River Basin. These young people in turn will be instrumental in reaching out with the gospel wherever they go.” Thus says the Mekong Ministries web site about their desire to continue a 119-year effort to spread the gospel in this important region of northern Thailand.
One of the key people groups that they want to reach there is the six million Tai Yuan people, also known as the Tai Muongs. This people group has been devoutly Buddhist for the past 700 years. They have a tradition of carving beautiful Buddhist idols to honor their gods and Gautama Buddha. Buddhism is well-entrenched in their communities.
But we worship a God who created this limitless universe. He is certainly powerful enough to spread His comfort and joy to a people who are now trapped by cultural norms and the spirit world.
