Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

People in Pakistan like the Sumras have every physical reason to be anxious. They have suffered a lot, and the end of their suffering is far from over. In this verse God tells us to pray when we are anxious, and He will give us peace and guard our hearts.

Pray that through their current ordeal the Sumra people will find the One who offers peace in the midst of any catastrophe.

Sindhi Sumra (aka, Soomra) People

by PE

The 176,000 Sumra people in Sindh Province are well-known, for the Sumra family is the largest in the area. They are leaders in business, agriculture, and especially politics. So when the sheer magnitude of the flood disaster hit the Sumra people, many were hit from both sides: agony from the affects of the flood on their own lives, and agony for the people they represent as government officials.
One Mr. Sumra writes, “I am sad, anxious, worried. Imagine three Scotlands drowning and its population stranded among rising waters. Imagine 20 million human beings without food and clean water. Imagine 44 people of a single family drowning under the first wave of water. Imagine miles upon miles of rubbish that were once villages and towns. Imagine one human being dying every 30 minutes just because we were unable to help. Then, imagine that the second wave is coming.”
The Sumra people in Sindh Province are 100 percent Muslim. They don’t know about the loving Heavenly Father or the Holy Spirit who can comfort them. They don’t know about Jesus Christ who can save them for all eternity.

Let our compassion drive us to our knees as we cry out for the Sumra people. Pray for the salvation of these people. Pray against the evil one who would take their lives to hell in droves before they can accept the promise of eternal life through the blood sacrifice of Jesus who died to pay for their sins.
