Psalms 46:10
Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

So often we remember the first part of this verse, but forget the second part. “Be still and know that I am God,” is used as an exhortation not to worry, and to put our faith in God in any situation. Yes, we must have faith in Him no matter what may happen. But there is a definite purpose to being still: to know that He will be exalted among the nations in all the earth. Does it give us peace and joy to know that the glorious One will be exalted among the nations?

Pray that you will experience His joy in knowing that the nations will be reached.

Qassabi People

“Mahmood, listen to what they are saying about us now!” The Qassabi butcher in Lahore read from the local newspaper as his friends looked over his shoulder. “Butchers in the city are not following the price lists issued by the district authorities. They are overcharging, and some meat is illegally being smuggled out of the country for higher prices. Several butchers have been arrested for their improper methods of butchering.”
Ali responded, “What do they want? The floods killed over 15 million cows, food for livestock is high, and the government is just starting to compensate some of the farmers for their loss of animals. I know that some of the Qassabis are not doing right, but most of us are honest. Other countries like England have wanted us to come so they could have good halal [Islamic “Kosher”] butchers like us to meet the needs of their Muslims.”
There are about 950,000 Muslim Qassabis in Pakistan. The men are involved in the meat business. In 2006 several of them participated in a promotional effort to develop hybrid animals and improve Pakistan’s ability to provide more halal meat for export. In addition to this, some Qassabi people accept jobs in places like England where there is a demand for halal butchers. The recent flood disaster has disrupted some of their businesses.
