John 6:6:28-29
Then they asked Him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one He has sent.”

The Pathans are noted for their willingness to use violence, but also for noble things such as generosity to those in need. They are fiercely loyal to Allah, the God of Creation, as Muslims understand Him. There are some serious differences between the belief of Muslims and Christians. The Muslims do not believe in the deity of Christ. Though Islam is staunchly dedicated to the God of Creation, they have some serious misunderstandings regarding His holy character and the way He redeems sinful mankind.

Pray for Pathan leaders to simply put their trust in Jesus as both lord and savior, and recognize that only through Christ can they approach the God of Creation.

Pathan (aka, Pushtun)

Mohammed looked at the large group coming down the mountainside. Were they Taliban militants or refugees? Regardless, he had enough food to share with his struggling countrymen. Most of the Taliban come from the Pathan people, but most Pathan people do not support the Taliban.
Pathans place high value on caring for anyone who comes to them for help. Reputed for their fierce fighting, the Pathans also highly value courage and honor. Historically they have maintained a strong regional influence.
The more than 22 million Pathans come from the rural, mountainous northwest province of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan. Last year’s flooding added to their need. Millions were left homeless and diseased.
Considered to be one of the world’s least reached people groups, nearly 100 percent of Pathans are Sunni Muslims. Ironically many believe they are descendants of King Saul! Few Pathans have put their faith in Christ, and there are few known churches. Yet a complete translation of the Bible has been available to them since 1895. There is also Christian literature, audio recordings, radio, video, and a JESUS Film in their language. Mission efforts have fled the country’s instability. Persecution remains a sure threat to any Pathan who puts their hope in Jesus.

Pray that God will reach the Pathan by dreams and visions. Pray for Christian audio recordings to find their way into Pathan communities.
