1 Sam.17:32-37
"David said to Saul, 'Let no one lose heart.... The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine'"

Goliath challenged the Israelites to a duel, defying the armies of the living God. But no Israelite warrior was willing to meet the challenge. David had experienced the Lord’s protection in other difficult situations, and he was confident that the Lord would protect him as he volunteered to face Goliath. Today, we need more “Davids” in the frontier missions endeavor, men and women who recognize that the battle is not theirs, but the Lord’s. We need people who will claim the victory that is already won through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Father, grant us courage to confront the enemy of our souls and to overcome our hesitancy and fear.

Muslim Arabs in the US

“Where are the pork chops?” Bassem looked at his Latino customer, and replied, “Didn’t you read the sign? This is now a halal (Muslim sanctioned) market. No more pork.” The customer walked out and replied, “You’d be a real joy at a carne asada barbecue, dude.”

Bassem’s butcher shop was in crisis. As a devout Muslim, he could not have pork in his shop. But most of his Southern California customers wanted pork. But one of his customers had an idea that made Bassem rich: Start an Islamic halal meat market. Today, he proudly acknowledges, “I have Muslims coming from all over, such as Las Vegas and Arizona. They place $1,000 orders. Praise Allah, life is good here!”

Hard working, Muslim Arabs have proven to be successful in starting many businesses in America. Many cater to the needs of their Islamic clients. Besides butcher shops, they have beauty salons where Muslim women have haircuts in private so that when they remove their hijabs men will not see them.

Pray that Christians in America while being sensitive to their culture, will establish and maintain lasting friendships that can draw them to the Lord. Pray that even Arab-owned businesses will be a way for Christians to meet Muslims.-PD
