Acts 28:28
Therefore I want you to know that God’s salvation has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will listen.

The book of Acts deals with the early history of the Church and how the gospel began to spread. God sent forth His apostles in ever widening circles. First the gospel was given out in Jerusalem, then in Antioch, Ephesus, Philippi, and other major Greek cities. The Book of Acts closes with Paul preaching in Rome, the most influential city in the ancient Western world. Today in this later period of history God is sending to the great urban centers of our age students and workers from unreached people groups.

Pray that God will send a multitude of missionaries to plant and prune urban patches in Paris.

MoveIn Ministry

by TP

My city has a community garden where residents can plant and grow food on their own small patch of soil. There they lovingly plant, weed, prune, and harvest. Jesus once told of a farmer tilling soils of different types and reaping different yields, as an example of what He wants His disciples to do.

According to The Message, “The Word became flesh and blood and moved into the neighborhood.” MoveIn, a Canadian urban ministry, seeks to till, plant, and prune its own urban “patches” by seeding the seediest urban neighborhoods with small teams of young adults to go as His ambassadors of hope, faith and love.

Although some on the teams are Mennonite Brethren, others are from different denominations. MoveIn is supported by the Ontario Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches, the Associated Gospel Churches of Canada, Vision Ministries Canada, and the Peoples Church.

In December 2010, some 200 Canadian young people, including many MoveIn-ers, attended the InterVarsity Christian fellowship North American mission conference (aka, Urbana).

This year MoveIn will move out from Canada again. They will begin to explore portions of the 10-40 Window through “vision trips,” seeking God’s purpose for their ministry. They will be looking for urban “garden patches” in which to invest their lives in small teams under the guidance of the Lord of the Harvest.

Pray that the Holy Spirit will water and weed their patches in Canada and those they hope to plant in the U.S. Pray also that, if it is God’s will, He will show them the fertile soil around Paris which could bring forth much good fruit and patches to cultivate.
