Genesis 3:19
By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground…

Like the rest of humanity, the Moors in Paris must struggle to earn a living. This is part of the curse mankind put himself under when Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden. Do the Moors understand that the root of their struggle comes from their separation from our Creator?

Pray that the Moors and other ethnic groups like them will learn that man is basically sinful, and only our Creator provided the means of forgiveness through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross.

Moors in Paris

by EJD

Notwithstanding the cool summer breeze, drops of perspiration began to form on Sidi’s forehead as he hauled heavy furniture into the warehouse. But he did not complain. Sidi was fortunate to find employment in Paris. He had come to France from Mauritania. He had survived a precarious journey to Europe on a small, rickety boat. Other Moors weren’t as lucky. Many North Africans drown attempting to cross the Strait of Gibraltar. Since the European Union tightened the issuing of visas, many Moors have sought to enter Europe illegally in order to escape dire poverty. Sidi has learned to stomach taunting remarks that the French heap upon him. Every time an impetuous fellow Moor says that his blood boils when he hears snide comments, Sidi replies, “At least here we earn enough money to survive, and we are able to spare some to send home.”

Many former French colonies in North Africa where the Moors live have been independent for many years, but have not been able to escape the difficulties that most fledgling developing countries face. The fact that people have limited access to health care, coupled with poor living conditions and high unemployment, leaves the young people with very little choice. Many decide to embark on a dangerous journey in the hope of eking out a living in European cities like Paris.

Pray that this largely Muslim immigrant population would find hope for this life and the life to come in Christ Jesus alone.
