Then he went to Kolkata to attend a YWAM Discipleship Training School (DTS). This proved to be a season of reconciliation for him and his wife. Although earlier he had been abusive to her, now Kalindi felt willing to rejoin him. She soon became a disciple of Christ, partly by seeing the change in Narendra’s character. God used the DTS to give Narendra a love for his family, though they were still seeking his life.
Tiwari has a vision to teach the Bible and to evangelize India. “I love to preach the gospel to the common people of India,” he said in his written testimony. Since putting his faith in the Lord, Tiwari has taught Bible and preached the gospel, both in Kolkata and in Varanasi.
From 1998 till 2007 he focused his attention on YWAM’s church planting work in Varanasi, a Hindu holy city along the Ganges River. Tiwari helped a congregation to grow from 40 to 100 people. Elsewhere in Uttar Pradesh, he has helped establish 25 house fellowships made up mainly of Hindu background believers.
