1 Sam.25:28
"The Lord will surely reward you, for you are fighting His battles."

All too often the battles we fight are of our own making. David was fighting the Lord’s battles and thus could be assured of God’s blessings. What are the Lord’s battles today? They are battles against sin and ungodliness in our society and our churches. They are battles against a foe sometimes disguised as an angel of light. And these battles include efforts to bring under Christ’s Lordship some from every people, tribe, and tongue. God will bless those involved in these battles, because they are His battles.

Dear Father, some of Your servants, trying to reach the unreached peoples, are very discouraged today. Remind them that the battle is Yours, not theirs. Give them great joy and power, we pray.

Lingayats of India

According to Operation World, “Bangalore is India’s ‘Silicon City.’” A BBC correspondent said, “Bangalore may now have rivals as India’s technological epicenter, but the southern city is basking in a new reputation as its designer capital.” There are designer drinks-specialty tea and coffee bars, designer buildings and parks, designer fashions, and the list goes on.

Prominent in society and politics in the cosmopolitan city are the Lingayats, long considered a Hindu sub-group. Recently, however, there has been a very strong movement among Lingayats to convince its members that they are not Hindu, but are a religious minority. If Lingayats declare themselves as such when census takers visit them, they may convince the government of this status and become eligible for rights to open and manage educational institutions given by the Constitution to religious and linguistic minorities. Presently the Indian government and its laws only consider Sikhs, Buddhists, and Jains as religious minorities who are entitled to these benefits. Regardless of the outcome of their status, the Lingayats need to know their status in the eyes of God-beloved and needing salvation freely offered through Jesus.

Pray for the 12 mission agencies targeting the Lingayats and ask God to prepare the hearts of these self-sufficient people to receive Jesus as their savior.-JS
