Psalm 42:1-2
As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?

Where can the Kalal people go to meet with God? Like most people on earth, they adhere to a religious system that requires them to follow a series of laws that they believe will ensure good from the spiritual realm. They have not enjoyed the reward they expected. Are they ready to thirst for God, and earnestly desire to meet with Him?

Pray that God will prepare the hearts of the Kalal people so they will earnestly desire to be with the One who calls them to repentance.

Kalal People

by GEC

Imran considers himself fortunate. In last year’s floods, his house remained because he built it with cinder block. Many mud brick buildings around him washed away. Yes, he lost a car to the water, and his factory took on water. But many of his neighbors lost everything! The floods merged two canals near his Peshawar home and flooded a nearby cemetery.
Imran is from the Kalal people, historically distillers of alcohol. They span the major religions of South Asia: Hindu, Sikh, and Muslim. When his ancestors converted to Islam centuries ago, they stopped making alcohol, since it is banned in the Muslim religion. During the partition of the region, his parents settled in Peshawar in northwest Pakistan. Here their business skills benefited them so that today Imran and his Kalal kinsmen own factories or have professional jobs. Their home province connects the treacherous Khyber Pass on their west and the Jhelum River to their east leading to Kashmir and the Himalayan Mountains. More frequent than the floods are the devastating earthquakes. Each disaster brings aid groups from other countries. Most of these agencies hold allegiance to Jesus.
