Genesis 1:30
And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.

The Lord is the creator of life, and he wants us to respect and protect it. The Jains respect life, and do many good things, but for the wrong reasons. Without the knowledge that their Creator lives, they put their trust in the doctrine of reincarnation. Who will introduce these people to their Creator?

Pray for the Holy Spirit to move among Jain leaders in such a way that they will be willing to submit to the Living God.

Jains in India

by WK

The Jain businessman wore a filter mask over his mouth because he feared that he would swallow insects by mistake. He was also careful not to step on any insects or small animals as he walked home.
Why the extreme efforts to not harm lowly insects? Jains believe all animals had souls, even lowly insects. They believe that killing even the lowest form of animal life would condemn a person to another rebirth, to yet another life full of pain and suffering. Needless to say, the Jains are strict vegetarians. Many centuries before Christ Jainism began as a reform movement within Hinduism, but it quickly morphed into a separate religion.

A good way to reach the Jains would be through campus outreach. With a literacy rate of 94 percent, the Jains are the most literate of all religious communities in India. They tend to be rich and send their children to college.

Pray that God will raise up ministries on India’s college campuses to reach out to Jains and other privileged communities. Pray that Jains would realize that reincarnation is a myth, and after this life comes a day of judgment before God. Ask God to open the hearts of this people group to Jesus Christ, the true giver of life.
