Daily Topic for November 15, 2010

Daniel 3:29
Therefore I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego be cut into pieces and their houses be turned into piles of rubble, for no other god can save in this way.”

These are the words of Nebuchadnezzar, the king of the Babylonian Empire right after the three Hebrew children were not burned in a fire that he set for them. Though the decree came from the very top, there is no indication that Babylonians began to worship God on their own volition. It is ironic that true worship cannot be forced. The peoples of Iran are now disillusioned with Shi’ite Islam because it is being harshly forced upon them.

Pray that there will soon come a day when even top Iranian government officials will worship the Lord out of love and reverence.

Iranian Alive Ministries

In what country did more believers celebrate Easter this year than in any year during the last 14 centuries? Iran! The last 31 years of Islamic rule in Iran have brought bitter disappointment to the Shi’ite Muslim Iranian people. Thirty-one years ago most Iranians had a romantic view of Islam. They were taught that if Islam ruled in Iran, it would become a paradise on earth. Now they know that is not the case.

Christian leaders say that we must not wait for a political opportunity to share the gospel. We must realize that God is positioning these people who are hungry for change to be ready to hear the gospel now, and that is what is currently happening.

During the 1979 Islamic revolution, Hormoz Shariat was a zealous Shi’ite Muslim. Several years later Shariat came to faith in Christ. Shariat now works with Iran Alive Ministries. Their satellite TV program is currently reaching seven to nine million Muslims each Tuesday through Friday with the gospel message. He has been called the “Billy Graham” of Iran. Iranians are responding, and house churches have sprung up all over Iran.

Shariat asks us to pray for the persecuted believers in Iran. Pray that the spirit of fear will be lifted. Pray against the schemes of the government to stop the growth of faith in Christ by jamming satellite signals, blocking and monitoring phone calls, and disrupting Internet connections.
