Here Jesus answered the question, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” (v. 6). He said that the times and the dates for His return are known only by the Father. Two things we do know, however. We will receive the power of the Holy Spirit, and by that power we will be His witnesses, beginning where we are and moving out to the ends of the earth. Let us yield ourselves fully to this commission, empowered by His Spirit until men and women from every nation acknowledge Jesus as Lord. Then His Kingdom will come with fullness and glory.
Pray that the Father will move us by the power of His Holy Spirit to make us witnesses to the ends of the earth.
I saw his stern face at London’s Heathrow Airport. We stood in the security line waiting to board our flight to India. Then as we boarded the plane, he took a seat across the aisle. As we waited for take-off, I asked his destination. Through a series of questions, his stern face relaxed and he told me. “My name is Dipesh, which means ‘Lord of Light.’ I am going to Gandhinagar, the capitol of Gujarat. I have a home there as well as one outside London. I own an import/export business. I export cotton, onions, tobacco, and a few other things to England. I warehouse these things and resell them to retailers throughout Great Britain. I live in a relatively new neighborhood outside London, called Rushey Meade. Many South Asians live there. Perhaps about 80 percent are Gujarati. My two sons are growing up thinking of themselves as both Indian and British.”
Learning that he has contacts outside the Indian community, I asked, “Do you know any British Christians?”
“I assume the English people I know are Christians,” he said. “But we never talk about religion. Frankly, with all the gods we already have in Hinduism, why would I be interested in another god from another culture?”Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray that Christian businessmen will carry the good news to Gujarati businessmen in Great Britain. Pray that the Holy Spirit will give them hungry hearts for the Lover of their Souls.-EF
