God is a missionary God who carries within His heart the desire to communicate His “Word.” Not only is He the great Creator, He is also the great Communicator. Amid this week’s preparations for Christmas, let’s reverently recall the great passages in Scripture which anticipate and describe the birth of Jesus Christ. Then, let’s allow the drama of the great event to give focus to our prayers for the unreached peoples. Christmas is the most “missionary” time of the year!
Father, we long to know You better as the missionary God. Give us a new zeal to make You known among the unreached peoples.
Is it too late to reach Somalia for Christ? For 15 years Somalia has stood for anarchy, hunger, death, and violence. Refugees have found little hope from any nation or humanitarian aid workers. But “with God all things are possible” (Matt. 19:26).
Missionaries in Somalia have reported on some recent church-planting efforts by small groups of Somali believers. They report, “Perhaps God had to allow the situation in Somalia in order to open the people for the gospel. For decades, there were very few Christians, and even today, many pay for their faith with their lives. Now, though, couples and even entire families are coming to Jesus, and children are hearing the Word of God.” Many Somalis realize that Islam never managed to bring peace to their nation.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray that Somali believers will be filled with the fruit of the Holy Spirit and will boldly minister to the needs of their Muslim neighbors. Pray that mission agencies and individuals will be called to make a long-term, multi-generational investment in Somalia. Pray for God to supernaturally reveal Himself and His truth to Somalis. Pray for Somalis to hear the gospel through any possible means - radio, the JESUS Film, cassette tapes, and relational evangelism.-JS
