What a confession from Peter! It took three visions, but at last Peter understood that God does not show partiality, but cares about people from all nations. Deuteronomy 10:17 finally clicked in Peter’s mind- he even quoted it! Begin reading your Bible with God’s love for all peoples in mind. You will find, like Peter, that many familiar verses are actually mission verses that you never understood before!
Pray that God would give you the grace to obey what you read.
Coffee time and Christianity? Yes, they blend well! Relationship evangelism is especially effective for Christian Vision for Men’s (CVM) ministry. Saneel Shivdasani, as its director, focuses upon South Asian men, mostly Hindus and Sikhs. He works in London where there is a large South Asian community. His goal is to help churches reach out to South Asian men.
He recommends a personal “one on one” approach. First develop a friendship, socialize together and have dinner or coffee. Shivdasani has found the “Masala Discovery Groups” materials to be very effective in opening up discussions about God and His Word. South Asian men consider themselves religious and are not offended by questions such as, “Are you very religious?” He then asks them to review some materials and give him feedback. He e-mails them the materials and sets up a time for them to have coffee and discuss them. After reviewing one module of the material, it is quite natural to ask them if they would like to do another module together. They generally enjoy the material and agree to continue.
