Dan. 10:13
"But the Prince of the Persian Kingdom resisted me 21 days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia."

This comment made by the angel of the Lord to Daniel gives us some insight into what happens when we pray. We know from this passage that the Lord responds to our prayers. In this case, he sent His angel to Daniel. But notice that the answer to this prayer was delayed because of the work of the enemy, the Prince of Persia. It may take much regular prayer before the Lord breaks through the spiritual darkness. Will you be one who prays until the Lord is victorious?

Father, show me if I am to be one who continues to pray for the peoples we lifted up this month.

Christian Missionary Aid (CMA) Work in Sudan

“Praise God!” Maria, a Nuer woman in southern Sudan, shouted joyfully as she listened to her Christian Missionary Aid (CMA) Bible teacher read the Bible while Maria worked on her sewing machine.

A few years ago, Maria had a much different shout. When a neighboring tribe murdered her husband, she gave a shout that was the signal for the men in her village to kill the men in the enemy village. This tradition was the source of continuing tribal wars that resulted in countless deaths. When Maria and many other Nuer women heard the teachings of Jesus, they realized that the wars were wrong, and so the practice stopped. Other people groups became interested to know more about the Nuers’ newfound Lord!

The CMA has worked to meet many needs of the suffering Sudanese peoples with medicine, food, education, and vocational help. The focus of their work stresses giving the people God’s Word and leading them to Christ.

Pray that the CMA will receive God’s protection and have what they need to help the people. Pray that many of the Muslim tribes will make a serious decision for Christ. Pray that local believers will have the courage to reach out to the unreached people groups, soldiers, and governing authorities.-PD
