James 1:14
But each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own desire and enticed.

So much for “the devil made me do it.” We are responsible for giving in to temptations. The only one who can keep us above our fleshly desires is the Holy Spirit, who inhabits those who have put their faith in Christ.

Pray that all Hindu peoples that we are praying for this month will recognize that they can overcome temptation through the transforming work of the Holy Spirit sent by the Father.

Bazigar People

“Raja! - Are you juggling the eggs again?” Mama asked. Raja swiftly put the three eggs back into the basket with the others, and finished carrying them to the house. “Why do we still have to practice if we have so little work anymore?”  Mama answered, “We still have some work, so we must stay in practice. You can’t tell when someone might want us to entertain at a party or a wedding.”

Raja is from the Bazigar people. Their name comes from the word Bazi, which means “acrobat.” Centuries ago this people became acrobats, jugglers, dancers, and fortune-tellers so they could have the mobility to escape Muslim efforts to forcefully convert them from Hinduism. Each clan used to be responsible for the entertainment of 12 villages, but since the advent of television, their Muslim patrons have, for the most part, abandoned them. Because of this some Bazigar people have embraced Sikhism to survive financially. Should they have to change their spiritual beliefs to be able to earn a living?

Pray that key leaders of the 776,000 Hindu Bazigars might be saved so that they can lead their people into the abundant life promised by Jesus Christ Himself. Ask God to reveal Himself so that the Bazigars might know in their hearts that He alone is the true and living God.-PE
