Law enforcement agencies can make little headway against human trafficking without community help. Someone needs to focus their energies on eradicating this scourge of society. Christ’s followers can make a difference through groups like A21! When they act, God is glorified.
Pray for hundreds more to be Christ’s hands and feet in the coming years to combat human trafficking and to give out the gospel to exploited people.
But this is a people plundered and looted, all of them trapped in pits or hidden away in prisons. They have become plunder, with no one to rescue them; they have been made loot, with no one to say, “Send them back” (Isaiah 42:22).
A21 is a Christian organization that works to abolish injustice in the 21st century—mainly human trafficking. The number one destination country for trafficked women in Europe is Greece. A21 is headquartered in Thessaloniki, Greece. Their four-fold goal is to prevent trafficking, protect and support those trafficked, prosecute traffickers, and partner with law enforcement.
Preventing trafficking starts with awareness and education. A21 provides short courses for high schools, technical schools, and orphanages throughout Ukraine, the country where many of these women come from. They also provide employment opportunities at home for those at risk so that they are less likely to accept risky job opportunities overseas. The A21 campaign can also help vulnerable women assess the legitimacy of employment opportunities.
The A21 Crisis Care Shelter cares for rescued victims by providing medical care, legal services, and rehabilitation programs. In general, it gives them the tools to overcome their trauma. A21’s legal team is committed to strengthening legal responses to trafficking by representing victims. They work along side law enforcement and border patrol officials to help them identify traffickers and their victims.
Pray for the victims’ salvation, protection, freedom, justice, hope, and healing. Pray for the traffickers’ convictions, repentance, and salvation. Pray for criminal networks to be dismantled.
