Daniel 4:31-32a, NIV
Even as the words were on his lips, a voice came from heaven, “This is what is decreed for you, King Nebuchadnezzar: Your royal authority has been taken from you. You will be driven away from people and will live with the wild animals; you will eat grass like the ox.

Pray for God’s mercy to come through to those who take credit for what God alone can do. Pray for the peoples of Iran to bend their knees to Christ alone.

Hazaras in Iran

by WK

(This story is intended to illustrate challenges facing this people group.)
He was shaking, knowing that this was his last chance to get Iranian citizenship and never have to face living in Afghanistan again. It was worth a try. The young Hazara man entered an Iranian military recruiting office. Aziz was from Afghanistan, and he was in danger of being deported. “Is there a way I can qualify for Iranian citizenship?” asked Aziz. “Yes,” said the recruiter. “If you sign up to fight for the loyalists in Syria.” “How long will I have to fight?” asked Aziz. “Until the civil war ends. You’ll be an Iranian citizen if you come back alive.” The man pulled out enlistment papers from a desk drawer. Aziz hastily signed them.
Since 1978 many Hazaras have fled the political turmoil in Afghanistan for refugee camps in Iran. Though they are Shi’ite Muslims like the Iranians, they aren’t eligible for Iranian citizenship. Since 2011 some have been able to find their way to obtain Iranian citizenship by fighting for Iran’s allies in Syria. Some of these men believe that the Syrian Civil War is a jihad, and that death will get them an immediate trip to heaven.
