Matthew 16:15b-17, NIV
He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Simon Peter replied, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." And Jesus answered him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.”

Before his experience Paul had a wrong view of Jesus; but Jesus showed a true revelation of who He is which brought about a radical change in Paul’s life. ISIS members (and Muslims in general) have misunderstood the term “Son of God.” They believe that this means a physical son, which means that Mary and God had a sexual relationship and had a son together.

Pray that God would remove all the misunderstandings about Himself and would allow ISIS members to know Him so that they would be able to proclaim the truth about who He is.—WIN

Yazidis in Iraq

by JS

In 2014, the world was transfixed with the plight of the persecuted Yazidis fleeing ISIS fighters as they climbed Mt. Sinjar in northern Iraq. Ibrahim relates his struggle in helping his six siblings and widowed mother get off Mt. Sinjar. Here he first experienced God’s deliverance. His mother’s leg was so badly injured that she could not walk at all. In desperation Ibrahim cried out to God for help. The next morning there was a miracle; his mother’s leg was completely healed, and they were able to escape.
Many perished there while others were captured. The men were shot, young boys were conscripted as ISIS fighters, but the women suffered a worse fate. They were sold as sex slaves, many as young as eight.
ISIS considers the Yazidis devil-worshippers. They are actually one of the oldest monotheistic religions in the world, borrowing from the ancient Persian Zoroastrianism, Judaism, and even Christianity. Seventy times in the last 500 years they have faced genocide.
But this may be God’s time for the Yazidis to recognize Jesus as their Savior! It is through Christian outreach in the densely populated refugee camps and bombed out buildings that they are finding Jesus.
