John 4:35
Do you not say, "Four months more and then the harvest"? I tell you, open your eyes, and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.

Jesus likened the spiritual responsiveness of the Samaritan woman and her community to fields ripe for immediate harvest by alert workers. These words to His disciples are still applicable to us today. Are our eyes opened to the ripe harvest going on right now in Cambodia? We must recognize the spiritual receptivity of hundreds upon hundreds of human societies. Are we eagerly looking for ripe harvests or do they catch us unaware?

Pray that the Church’s eyes will be open to see how to bring in a complete harvest, especially among the Khmer people of Cambodia.

Central Khmer People of Cambodia

Addressing worship and prayer meeting, the missionary said, “I heard from Kalianne. She is returning to the Khmer people in the Chbar village in Cambodia with her husband and another lady, trained in our evangelism program. They need your prayers!
“This is what Kalianne wrote about their first visit: ‘When we arrived, the people flooded to see us. We immediately knew that the Lord wanted us to share His gospel with them from creation to Jesus. Among them were four older people, including a spirit leader, who said that they wanted to accept Jesus. Right then and there all four made commitments to follow Christ, and they renounced idolatry and witchcraft. After praying with them, the spirit leader said, “I feel so light and free! You may not know how serious the spiritual situation is here. The demonic control of this village is very strong. Freedom in Jesus is wonderful!”
The Khmer account for about 90 percent of Cambodia’s estimated population of 15 million people. Most Khmers remain loyal to their style of Buddhism which blends elements of Theravada Buddhism, Hinduism, animism, and ancestor-spirit worship. Angkor Wat (City Temple) is the religious pride of the Khmers. But the Word of God is spreading. In 1990, there were only 10 Khmer Evangelical churches in Cambodia. Today there are more than 200,000 believers in over 2000 churches!
Thank the Lord for the extension of His kingdom among the Khmer people. Pray that the power of God’s Holy Spirit will lead many non-believing Khmers to receive Him. May the Khmer soon be freed from Satan’s grip.
