Exodus 12:13
The blood shall be a sign for you, upon the houses where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague shall fall upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

While God disciplines children He loves, we will also experience times where He is our shelter and fortress (see Psalm 91:1-2). This protection comes because Jesus Christ, our Passover Lamb, was slain for us one Passover eve 2,000 years ago.

Pray that God will enable the harvesters He is sending to communicate to the Shaikhs that the blood of Christ, the Lamb of God, is not only their protection in this life, but that by His sacrifice, Christ has made a way for them to have eternal life in Heaven with Him.-RR

Shaikhs in Dhaka Bangladesh

by GEC

Dhaka shatters my images of Bangladesh. I tend to picture the country flooded by monsoons and overwhelmed by the encroaching Bay of Bengal. But Dhaka rises above the flood-plain to boast a modern, growing, cosmopolitan mega-city. Already one of the largest cities in South Asia, projections point to a population of 25 million people by 2025. Skyscrapers rise. Office buildings pulse. Markets bustle. Shopping malls thrive. Mosques multiply. And bicycle rickshaws abound.

Yesterday, April 14, throngs gathered on major streets, parks, and at 40-plus universities. They celebrated Bangladesh’s New Year. At other times, the bustle stops for Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Adha, prominent holy days for this mostly Muslim nation.

Among the throngs in the city some of the residents are “Shaikhs.” These people are of Arab or Middle Eastern ancestry. That means their facial features are different from other Bangladeshi. It is unclear if this gives them an advantage in social exchanges. The Shaikhs are almost 100 percent Muslim, and there are few known Christians among them.

Natural as well as human disasters over several decades have given occasion for Christ followers to show the compassion of Christ in Dhaka as well as other places in the nation of Bangladesh.

Pray that the Holy Spirit would open the eyes and hearts of the Shaikhs in Dhaka. Pray that the Lord would stir a hunger and thirst for righteousness that only Jesus can satisfy.
