I Kings 8:55-56, NIV
He stood and blessed the whole assembly of Israel in a loud voice, saying: "Praise be to the LORD, who has given rest to His people Israel just as He promised. Not one word has failed of all the good promises He gave through His servant Moses."

Solomon received wisdom from the Lord in prayer and thanked God for blessing His people. Likewise, Jesus rose early each morning praying with His Father and asking blessings for the people. Today missionaries to the Bozo Tai people also need to receive the blessings and wisdom of the Lord to guide them. In doing so, they set an example for unreached people to receive Christ and then reach beyond their own tribe to the other unreached peoples around them.

Pray for harvesters among the Bozo peoples to have ears to hear the message given to them by the Lord.

Bozo Tai people of Mali

by JR

The Bozo Tai people have lived in and around Timbuktu, Mali, for many years, primarily as farmers and herders in areas near rivers and dams. The Mopti Region in the central part of Mali has been their traditional home. More recently, many have been migrating into cities to seek a better life. There are also a number of Bozo Tai fishermen. Fishing has been their traditional occupation.

Community has always been a primary value among the Bozo Tai people, and they will go to great efforts to be together, whether simply gathering around a well, maintaining fires, or fishing together.

More recently, their lives began modernizing, with the advent of the cell phone, CD player, television, and satellites. With better roads, they have had more opportunities to venture outside their communities and see new things. Bozo Tai people value education now more than ever, and this has brought changes to their communities.

There are, according to a 2000 census, 132,100 Bozo, nearly all of whom are Muslims; but they also follow animistic practices that pre-date Islam. They honor the bull as a totem, whose horns represent the fishing boats that they use.
