Exodus 3:11-12a, Message
Moses answered God, "But why me? What makes you think that I could ever go to Pharaoh and lead the children of Israel out of Egypt?" "I'll be with you," God said.

Preposterous! Insane! You might think that it makes no sense whatsoever for God to send a particular person to a particular people. To human thinking, it seemed ridiculous for God to send someone without an advanced education like D. L. Moody to people at some of the world’s finest universities. But God called D. L. Moody, and He was certainly with this humble evangelist. Likewise, He was with Moses through the most difficult times of his ministry.

Today as you pray the Lord of the Harvest to send out laborers, know that you are asking Him to send them purely on the promise that He will be with them. Thank Him for such a fine provision!

Missionary Biography, Continued

by KC

Swannie finished her training at the Bristol School of Theology in 1941, and she was ready to go to Morocco. But World War II was in full swing, and it would be another three years before she could go there. So she settled down to teach elementary school and learn patience. At last in 1944, she managed to board a ship bound for Morocco. It was part of a convoy of 80 ships, and it was protected by the Royal Air Force!

In Morocco Swannie was assigned to a mission station situated at the foot of the Middle Atlas Mountains, home of the Shilha Berbers. She regularly made trips to visit Berbers and grew to love and respect these hospitable people. She commented, “I see them always through a lover’s eyes and approach them with the touch of love.”

The best way to reach any Muslim people is through friendship, so Swannie spent much of her time interfacing with the Berbers, learning their language and winning their love.

While home on furlough four years later, she was given a shocking ultimatum by her mission agency. For her safety, Swannie was expected to travel into the Atlas Mountains only with a colleague. She was the only British missionary working there, and she was convinced that her life’s work was among these people. But it now became apparent that her vision and that of the agency were very different. She had to resign, and wait.
