The Bible makes it very clear that the vast majority of humanity will reject the gospel. Jesus said, “Narrow is the way, and few there are that find it” (Matthew 7:14). We are given no grand illusions that the world will be transformed before Christ’s coming. Evil, brokenness, and suffering will remain with us up until the very end because the root of all this is sin. What this means is that our priority must be to evangelize those people groups who have yet to hear the gospel.
Pray that we will rise to the occasion and “hasten His coming” (2 Peter 3:12) by taking Christ to the nations.
They might seem to be Muslims, but they aren’t! The Druze are a religious sect that began in the 9th century as an offshoot of Islam. The majority of Druze live in Syria, Lebanon, and Israel. Usually loyal, they do not engage in protests or revolts against the government of the countries in which they live. However, conditions in war-torn Syria have caused some Druze living there to take up arms, according to the Washington Post (February 8, 2013). Some of them have joined the rebel forces fighting against the government of President Bashar al-Assad. The Druze are considered to be some of the best warriors in the world because they are not afraid to die! They believe in the transmigration of the soul, and at the moment of death, the person is reincarnated into another life. They believe that heaven and hell are only spiritual in nature, not physical places. They believe Jesus was merely the son of Joseph, but they consider Him a “major prophet” along with Adam, Abraham, and others.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray that the eyes of the Druze will be opened so that they will recognize that Jesus is not the son of Joseph, but the Son of the living God. Pray that they will turn from darkness to light and realize that heaven and hell are real, that we have just one life to live on earth, and eternal life with God is only given through faith in Jesus Christ.
