Daniel 3:4-5
This is what you are commanded to do you must fall down and worship the image of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up.

Throughout history many pretenders have contended for the allegiance of men’s hearts. Nebuchadnezzar sought to command worship of his gods and his glory; but Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to join the crowds in such idolatry. Likewise, today the people of God are called to prophetically denounce idolatry in its many forms and point the nations to the one true God. Yahweh will not share His glory with another, and He longs for the people of the earth to turn from false gods.

Pray that God will break our hearts with the tragedy of a world bound by the futile worship of idols. He alone is God!

Bungku People

Colorful flowers and beautiful wedding attire were everywhere at the Bungku wedding, and the foreigners had to stop and take a look. They tried to be discreet as they dismounted their scooters to enjoy the view and hopefully catch a glimpse of the beautiful bride. They were startled by what happened next. “Welcome to our wedding celebration! We are so happy you stopped by!” exclaimed the wedding hosts to these uninvited foreigners. The mother of the bride nodded her approval to the hosts. She thought that perhaps if she welcomed these foreigners, the spirits would be appeased.

Such scenarios often play out among the Bungku people who live along the southwest coast of the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. Until recently the Bungku have been isolated due to difficult terrain which lies between their home area and the modern flow of Indonesian society.

Along newly built roads, village after village still remain lost and unreached without a gospel witness. But new roads bring new opportunities to take the gospel to these people loved by God!

Pray for a national team to start church planting movements in the Bungku villages which are along the new roads. Pray for God to draw people with a spiritual hunger to introduce the church planting leaders to households and communities who are receptive to the gospel.-MV
