Song of Solomon 6:3
I am my lover's and my lover is mine.

When we gaze upon the beauty of our Savior who loves us with an everlasting love, the significance of Solomon’s words comes home to us: He is ours and we are His. He claimed us as His “bride” before we claimed Him as our “groom.” We did not choose Him, but He chose us and loved us, and then set us free to love Him in return. He chose us “to go and bear (lasting) fruit” (John 15:16). Unlike the love between a man and his wife, the love between Jesus and His disciples is meant to be shared with many others. This way His love can spread throughout the earth to groups like the Aneuk Jamee who don’t yet know the Heavenly Bridegroom.

Pray that Christ’s beauty will be in us so that those who don’t know Him may come to know Him intimately.

Aneuk Jamee People

“Tabalah, you will do as I say right now!” The teenaged girl yelped as her father pulled her arm and stood her to her feet. Her mother covered her face to shield her tears. “No Father, I don’t want to go to the shaman! Madani and I truly love each other!” “Silly girl! The shaman placed a spell on you. You just think you are in love. Now we must pay him to remove the spell.” The on-looking shaman smiled out of the corner of his mouth. The price he would soon charge would be a good sum in his moneybag.

The Aneuk Jamee of northern Sumatra, Indonesia, live by the sea and mostly earn their living by fishing and trading. Islam has colored their lives a dark hue with its harsh laws, but the occult practices add their shadows as well. Fears of spells and counter spells impede any sense of peace within Aneuk Jamee communities.
