Repentance for sin is the key to salvation. In this statement, Paul gave the Athenians the gospel in a nutshell. If you do any witnessing, you may be shocked by how many people with a secular background don’t understand that it’s not “being a good person” but repenting from sin that is the key. A religious Uighur Muslim would view sin as a serious issue and would look to the Qur’an for answers. But a secularized one would not find salvation or repentance to be relevant issues.
Pray for spiritual hunger for secularized Uighur people. May they hunger and thirst for true righteousness.
Roger enters the narrow sidewalk cafe. Paintings show musicians with beards and turbans playing various instruments while women and men lift their hands in a dance. Overhead a video shows similar dances performed today. The hostess asks a question in Russian. Roger replies, “Sorry. English?” She shakes her head, no, and walks away. Soon a young man appears speaking perfect English, “How may I help you?” Eventually Roger enjoys a meal featuring lamb kebabs, plus a spicy noodle dish also with lamb and vegetables.
During the meal Roger chats with the English speaking young man. “What can you tell me about Uighurs?” he asks. “Most of our people live in northwestern China along the ancient Silk Road. However, we have expanded throughout central Asia. Our noodles that you enjoyed gave Marco Polo the inspiration for what you now know as pasta.”
The Uighurs in Moscow form a small community. They are not devout Muslims, but they have been taught that Christians are their enemies. Uighurs who grew up in the Communist Soviet Union heard the additional message that there is no God. Such barriers make them suspicious of anyone who identifies with Jesus. The Bible is available in hard copy as well as digital form in the Uighur language. There are no known believers among them.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray that the Lord will call laborers to share Christ with the Uighur people. Ask God to grant favor to mission agencies focusing on Uighurs. Ask God to anoint Christian radio broadcasts.
