1 Corinthians 2:14
The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.

This is the second part of the passage we started yesterday. It is clear that without the Holy Spirit, people cannot accept the words of God. They cannot understand them, and they often label them as “foolish.” This is one more reason why we need to pray for the Holy Spirit to move in Lari communities.

Pray that God will touch their hearts so that the Lari can understand His true plan for their lives.

Lari People of Iran

by LR

Luke 10:3-6 Go your ways; behold, I send you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. Carry no purse, no bag, no shoes; and greet no one on the way. And whatever house you enter, first say, “Peace be to this house.” And if a man of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him; but if not, it will return to you.

The Lari people are an unusual group in Iran. They are Sunni Muslim in a land dominated by Shi’ites. They come from one of the country’s poorest provinces called Laristan, 50 miles inland from the Persian Gulf. With valleys and low mountains, this sparsely occupied land has high temperatures and a high rate of poverty. Most Laris harvest crops like citrus fruits, cereals, dates, and tobacco. Other Laris are nomadic shepherds who trade with the farmers.

Of all countries in the world, Iran is listed as the fifth worst in the persecution of Christians. Only half of one percent of the Lari people know Jesus. The government prohibits mission work and greatly restricts foreign visitation. No form of Scripture is available in their language. Fortunately, they do have audio recordings.

Pray that God will touch hearts to pray for the Laris, and that He will open up doors for believers to minister to them. Pray that God will prepare Lari hearts to receive His message of love and salvation.
