Today we are praying for the Tanaoli people of Pakistan. Our story focuses on a young man who is barely tolerating the ways taught to him by his elders. Though the story is fictitious, it illustrates what happens when the Word of God is absent from a culture. This young man must find his way without being directed by God’s Word.
Pray that Pakistan’s Muslims will soon have the opportunity to hear about the God who created them and loves them. Pray that the Holy Spirit will give them supernatural discernment to understand that His ways are far higher than ours.
The young Tanaoli man was not happy. He could be hanging out with his friends and having fun, or maybe he could even catch a glimpse of one of the elders’ daughters. Instead, he was standing watch at the edge of his village. His eyelids grew heavy in the dark, and he began to mumble his complaints. “What is the point of all this? Why do we need to keep watch anyway? Not even the elders can remember anyone trying to cross our boundaries….. Maybe if somebody did come in from the outside, they’d bring some fresh ideas to the old folks.”
His people, the Tanaoli, are extremely hostile to outsiders. They live in a remote, mountainous region of Pakistan. So far cultural and physical barriers have prevented the penetration of the gospel. They are considered among the least-reached peoples of the world.
God knows and cherishes every Tanaoli man, woman, and child. He is not willing that any should perish!Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray that the Lord will make Himself known to Tanaoli elders through dreams and visions and through the JESUS Film. Pray that someone like this young man will welcome a messenger of the gospel. Pray for translators to create culturally relevant gospel radio programs and for powerful radio transmitters to reach over the mountains to the Tanaoli people. God’s Word will not return void!
