Life comes from the Name of Jesus. Waigali Nuristani people have few if any opportunities to find and embrace His Name. Without a Bible or even part of it, they are forced to look elsewhere. Have you ever considered what this means to such people groups?
Pray that God’s Word will soon come to the Waigali people through gospel recordings and the JESUS Film.
“Depeek and Ramul have had twins!” Congratulations and good wishes traveled quickly from the village birthing house. “Are they alive?” Women whispered, for birthing houses have a reputation for low survival rates. Depeek had been at the house for a week before the birth, and she will stay another week or two before returning home. “When is the feast and the shaving?” everyone wanted to know. “When Depeek comes home we will have the naming and the feast,” Ramul grinned.
Later, just before the celebration the babie’s heads were shaved, and the husband laid the boy at his wife’s breast while he recited names of ancestors. When the child began to nurse, they knew the name that was being spoken at the moment would be his name. The same tradition was repeated for the girl-twin. The celebrating began, and their names were announced. So much was respected about a name!
How sad that the 14,000 Waigalis don’t know the name of Jesus. They don’t know that God gave His only Son as payment for their sins. They work so hard to reach Him! They want to please and follow the one and only God, but have not yet found Him.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray that many Waigali people will be given the opportunity to hear and respond to the Name above all names. May they give their lives to Jesus Christ.
