Missionary author Don Richardson declares that at this point (as well as several others in Revelation) John raids the Greek dictionary to find synonyms for people group. John wanted to emphasize that no people group is to be left out-even the Pashaya peoples are included in Christ’s provision of salvation. How determined Christ is to win back to Himself some from all the peoples of our earth! He loves them all. They are His by right of creation and by right of redemption.
Pray that Christ will give us a vision for the completed Body of Christ, so that our highest priority will be to plant His Church among every people on earth.
The group of young men began singing as they approached the farming village in Afghanistan. In a nearby field a group of people harvesting rice threw down their hoes, smiled widely, and greeted the visitors as they joined them in song. They were all members of the Northwest Pashaya tribe. Harvest songfests are one of the traditions of this people group. Singing provides a much needed break from fieldwork.
The Northwest Pashayas live in the river valleys of Afghanistan. They have been Sunni Muslims for several centuries. Most members of this people group are rice farmers. There are few followers of Jesus Christ among them. There are a couple of audio scripture portions recorded in their language, but not a single verse of the Bible exists in written form.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray for the start of Bible translation work among the Northwest Pashaya people. May a mission agency be led to start this work. Ask God to create a hunger to know the true God among the Northwest Pashayas. Pray that audio scripture portions will soon find their way into every village. As war rages in many parts of Afghanistan, pray that God will find a way for His ambassadors to safely go to remote people groups.
