The Word is living and active! The Holy Spirit uses it every day to convict people of their own sin and God’s righteousness. It judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart in such a way that we are reminded that we must constantly repent of our sins and re-direct our lives to ways that please the Lord.
Thank Him that you have His Word in your own language. Thank Him that you have all you need to understand God’s daily directions.
Abdullah was ready to do something daring, but he still looked around the cybercaf before finding the web site that included Bible translations. He frowned and shook his head as he read through the possible Bible translations. Dari Pushtu Farsi Urdu. Nothing in Munji! He would have to settle for a trade language. He began to wonder. Doesn’t anyone know how important it is to have a biblical message about God in the language your mother first taught you? It has so much more of an impact than a trade language!
The Munji people group lives in a part of Afghanistan that is being fought over by the Taliban and the American-led coalition. Many Munji families like the one described above have fled to refugee camps in Pakistan. At this time believers aren’t actually sharing Christ in the refugee camps, but if they were, they would run into language problems while trying to present the message of salvation to this people group. Although some Munjis can read, there isn’t a single scripture portion in their language.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray that a mission agency would be led to translate the Bible into the Munji language. Pray that Bible translation work will be followed up by radio broadcasts, gospel recordings, the JESUS Film, and other non-printed resources. Pray also that peace will be restored in Afghanistan, so that efforts to reach them with the message of salvation won’t be hindered.
