Are the Dosadh people being drawn to God? Yes, He draws all peoples to Himself through general revelation (nature, etc.), but most people need more than that. As people groups like the Dosadh forgot about the God who gave them life, they began to serve gods like Lakshmi and Sitala that are not gods, and the results have been tragic. It will take men and women who love the Lord, who are willing to risk everything, to reach these people with the gospel.
Pray for such believers to be raised up to go to the Dosadh people.
As Aaina walked along the street singing, she gripped her bamboo pot and wished for favor. Two little metal idols were inside the pot: Sitala and Lakshmi. Lakshmi was the goddess of prosperity. Yet today, Aaina had received no alms. She raised her voice and sang even louder, pretending to be joyful. But inside, she was weeping. If she did not get alms today, she would not be able to afford to buy rice for her family. What would happen if she did not get alms tomorrow?
Aaina wondered if she should go back to selling cow dung like her brothers. Or perhaps she could search for insects on other people’s cattle like her mother.
Pausing at the corner she prayed silently to Lakshmi and Sitala. Why weren’t they listening? Were they angry with her? Were they angry with all of the Dosadh people? What had she done to displease these gods? Why was her families’ life so hopeless?Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray for the Dosadh people to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ. Ask the Lord to draw them into a relationship with His Son and provide them with the hope they so desperately need. Pray for the audio version of the Bible to reach this unreached, oral people group.
