Paul, of all Christ’s apostles, probably had the most intimate knowledge of the Old Testament. After his conversion he spent three years in Arabia, re-studying the Scriptures under the illumination of the Holy Spirit. As Paul came to understand the centrality of God’s promises through Abraham, he realized the priority of being a channel of blessing to all the families of the earth. This priority throughout his ministry resulted in the establishment of culturally appropriate, evangelizing churches among many Gentile people groups throughout the Mediterranean world.
Pray that the Lord will open our eyes to the mission themes of Scripture, and use His Word to lead us to new faith and obedience.
After he put his faith in Christ, Narendra Tiwari’s life was in jeopardy both from his family and from the RSS. He managed to get Bible training at an Assemblies of God Bible school in Uttar Pradesh. Then he went to Kolkata to attend a YWAM Discipleship Training School (DTS). This was a season of reconciliation for him. Kalindi, his wife, re-joined him, though he had always been abusive to her. She soon became a disciple of Christ, partly by seeing the change in Narendra’s character. God used the DTS to give Narendra a love for his Brahmin family, though they were seeking his life.
Tiwari has a vision to evangelize India and to teach the Bible. “I love to preach the gospel to the common people of India,” he said in his written testimony. Since putting his faith in the Lord, Tiwari has taught Bible and preached the gospel, both in Kolkota and in Varanasi.
From 1998 until 2007 he focused his attention on YWAM’s church planting work in Varanasi, a Hindu holy city along the Ganges River. Tiwari helped a congregation to grow from 40 to 100 people. Elsewhere in Uttar Pradesh, he has helped establish 25 house fellowships made up mainly of Hindu background believers.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
