The Corinthian church was not a “beautiful people” church. But Paul explained that God had chosen them to reveal the folly and weakness of the wise and strong of this world. Likewise, He chose an ordinary low caste farmer to convict a Brahmin of the judgment to come! This is very unusual in Hindu society, but God does miracles.
Pray for more weak and foolish low caste believers to become missionaries to the unreached peoples.
Narendra Tiwari’s Brahmin family is split between two different philosophies of life. One side sympathizes with Communism, and the other side is involved with the violently militant Hindu group, the Rastria Swaim Sawak Sangh, or RSS. As a youth Narendra leaned towards the RSS. His father is a Hindu guru who worships Durga, the goddess of death. Narendra became a guru himself at age 12, and a year later he had an arranged marriage to Kalindi, a Brahmin-background girl.
Narendra grew up with a penchant for violence and strife. He often beat people for not submitting to the desires of the RSS. One day some of Narendra’s friends took him to harass Santosh, a low caste farmer who had put his faith in Jesus. His friends were so abusive that Narendra sent them away, and he decided to talk with Santosh. The farmer asked him a question that he couldn’t stop thinking about. “Mr. Tiwari, I’m not saying that you leave your family, religion, parents, society, culture and luxurious life but God is going to judge you one day. Are you ready to give an answer in front of Him?”
After spending a sleepless night, Narendra went back to Santosh and asked him the name of the God who will judge him. Santosh shared the gospel with him, prayed for him and invited him to a home group. The people there were so loving that Narendra put his faith in Jesus.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
