Hebrews 6:19-20
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf.

Reflect for a minute how much you have to be thankful for. Christ Himself entered on our behalf. He is the one who paid for all of our sins, past, present, and future. God’s promise is certain; He cannot lie, because He is holy and righteous. We can walk in this assurance daily. There are many who attempt in vain to achieve these things through their own righteousness. Be thankful! But don’t forget those for whom you prayed this month that still don’t know these things.

Pray that the nations will crave fellowship with the only One who can pay for their sins.

Buryat People of Russia and Mongolia

Towering forested mountains, gushing streams and placid lakes comprise the most beautiful part of Siberia. But the stunning beauty of their homeland belies the fierceness of the history of the Buryat people. In the 13th century western Mongolians charged up to Lake Baikal and enslaved the people. The Buryats today are descendants of Siberian Eskimos as well as the Mongolian conquerors. Interestingly enough, their DNA shows that they are related to Native American tribes in Alaska.

The Buryats are the largest aboriginal group in Siberia. Formerly worshippers of spirits and users of shamans and magic, the Buryats became such devout Buddhists that nearly 50 percent of the men were Buddhist monks at one time. When their land was annexed into Russia, they were forbidden religious worship. Now, except for some who have returned to Buddhism, the population is largely atheistic.

Pray that Christian workers will be well accepted in this part of Siberia, and that the veil of ignorance and deception installed by the enemy of all souls will be removed. Pray that the Holy Spirit will woo and win the Buryat people through the blood of the Lamb and the Word of His Testimony. Pray that the nearly one million Buryats will be well represented on the day that believers gather around the throne in robes of white, praising the Lord from every tribe and people group. May there be hundreds of thousands of Buryat believers long before that day.-PE
