Colossians 1:22
But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation…

Here is the answer to a humanly impossible situation! Christ’s death has given the Northern Dong people a chance to be reconciled with the One who created them. Christ is free from blemish, wrongdoing, and sin. His death is the only thing that stands between the Northern Dong people and eternal separation from God.

Pray that many from the Northern Dong people will seek and find God’s reconciliation through Christ’s blood.

Northern Dong People of China

When Wei heard the sound of the drum, he paused from his work in the field and looked toward the village. Was it an emergency? A wedding? As far back as Wei could remember, the drum tower in the center of the village had been used to rally the people. If there was a death, the drums signaled this to the rest of the villagers. If there was a dangerous storm coming, the drums rang out. Responding to the drums was as natural as responding to a call to dinner.

Putting down his spade, Wei made his way out of the field and onto the dirt road. As he did, he met other Dong villagers and they discussed the possible meaning of the drum as they walked along. When they arrived at the tower, Wei saw a stranger with a Bible standing with the village elders. Wei immediately wondered what the book was and why it had required a drum signal.

Though they are relatively open to the gospel, few Northern Dong people have had the opportunity that Wei’s village enjoys. It is estimated that 88 percent of the Northern Dong of China’s southwestern Guizhou Province have never heard the gospel.
